This project is our largest to date. With over 1000 square feet of outdoor space, two levels, and a waterproofed lower level, this outdoor space is the perfect spot to host parties and gather family.
When our clients came to us, they had a deck about one quarter the size of the final product. They have a large family and wanted a space for their kids to hang out in the summer and entertain family and friends. The current space just wasn’t big enough. We came in, discussed their ideas and put together a 3-D rendering of the space. After a few revisions back and forth, we landed on a design that they loved.
We really appreciated how easy the design process was. Mathias started with a 3-D design that helped us to visualize exactly what the final product would look like.
For decking on this project, we went with Trex Enhance Naturals Foggy Warf. This is a very popular color and a great mid-range choice. By choosing this board, we were able to keep the deck within budget while still providing a durable, and aesthetically pleasing finish. For the fascia and post wrap, we used Versatex PVC Trim Board. This is the perfect complement to the composite decking. It is impervious to rot and won’t require any maintenance.
Our clients were very keen on waterproofing the lower space. By doing so, we could basically double the usable space and provided a perfect spot for those rainy days or even wintery days (with the fire place cranked up of course). To waterproof the space, we used Trex Rain Escape. This innovative product creates a trough between the joists. This allows water to flow into a gutter system and be carried away from the deck instead of landing below. Another benefit of this system is that it allowed us to install can lights in the soffit which provides light in the evenings.
Elevating the deck to truly one of a kind is the custom stone tv wall and post bases. Our clients really wanted a place to chill and watch Sunday Night Football. Nothing better than an outdoor tv on your incredible new deck. To make this happen, we had our electrician run coaxial cables as well as a power outlet to the wall.
