Can you imagine relaxing on this deck after a hard day’s work? We were undoubtedly envious of our clients after we handed this one over to them. This deck was designed to act as the perfect spot to entertain friends and family.
We incorporated unique features into this project, like the bar area, high shade pergola, lighting and privacy wall—all of which make this project unique.

With the backyard facing west, the clients wanted to design an outdoor space that could provide shade while still making it feel like they were outside. A pergola was the perfect solution to this problem. It would give plenty of shade during the day but let them see the stars at night. Creating a custom pergola instead of a pre-built one allowed us to craft it for this backyard uniquely. By decreasing the spacing between the purlins to 4″ o.c., we provided more shade and, therefore, more cooling.
Apart from the functional benefits, pergolas are a great way to define a space and are the perfect spot to hang string lights.
With backyards being so close together in newer developments, privacy is often one of our clients’ top concerns. A frosted glass privacy wall is a great option to add much-needed privacy. This option does a great job of blocking sound but also doesn’t block too much light.
We also added a small bar top to this project. It is an easy and affordable option that makes the grilling experience more enjoyable. It’s the perfect spot to put your plates or spices. We can also add more functionality to your bar with an ice tray or outdoor sink.
